Durango Model Trains
Exercises in Model Railroading by Bruce Longwell
My On30 Perrins, Cascade & Northern Mini Layout

My history with model railroading began in third grade when, on a sunny Saturday morning, my Grandfather brought over a series of old boxes; the fruits of cleaning his attic after several decades of neglect. My Mother's kitchen table took on the appearance of a garage sale and the smell of old dust filled the room as three generations of Longwells took stock of the vintage inventory before us. Soon afterward, my Dad bought a sheet of plywood from the lumberyard, and thus began a love affair with model trains.

Thirty five or so years later, living in Durango, Colorado, I've worked in a variety of scales and gauges including HO, HOn3, 1:24, and On30. Model railroading is still one of the most satisfying and enjoyable hobbies I've ever been a part of.

I'll keep things up to date here on the site as I have new things to add. I probably won't write as much as post photos and images. But if you have any specific questions, feel free to email me. I've got no secrets, and truth be told, not many "original" modeling techniques. Still, I'll gladly pass on wisdom learned from  others.

Hope you enjoy the site. Thanks for stopping by.
